Jonathan Holby
Jonathan Holby is a Fight Choreographer, Martial Artist and a serving member of the British Army as part of the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. He started his training in Shotokan Karate at the age of 7 and after obtaining his 1st Dan taught his own class alongside his father. Jonathan has continued to train in numerous martial arts and weapon systems and has gone on to work as a Fight Director/ Coordinator for both stage and screen, working in the West End and Internationally. Prior to working as a Fight Coordinator Jonathan received a scholarship to train as an actor and it was during his training that he was introduced to Performance Combat. His understanding of an actors process has influenced his approach to choreography, working with the director and actors to create a fight from the characters viewpoint. Jonathan joined the reserve regiment of the Fusiliers, an esteemed armoured infantry regiment in the British Army in 2018. Alongside a specialist team of serving regular and reserve operators, Jonathan can offer a first hand insight to what soldiering is like for your actors as well as tuition in the correct methods of combat within the British Military. This can range from fire and manoeuver tactics through to parade drill and skill at arms. As a member of the reserve battalion Jonathan's commitment can be worked around the client whilst still remaining up to date with military changes, ensuring accuracy of performance.
