Chinedu Unaka
Chinedu Unaka is a Nigerian American comedian, actor and writer born and raised in Los Angeles. He is the son of two Nigerian immigrants, Christian and Nneka Unaka. Both of his parents worked as educators and social workers in the Los Angeles area. Chinedu got his start in Entertainment through his pure love for stand up comedy, while he was attending the University of California Santa Barbara. After graduating from UCSB he joined Teach For America and went on to work as a mild to moderate Special Education Teacher for multiple years in the inner city of Los Angeles, while completing a Masters in Education at LMU.
During this time Chinedu was also performing stand up comedy at night and studying to become an actor and writer. After grad school, Chinedu started touring clubs and colleges nation wide. He was a finalist in NBC's Stand up for Diversity competition, listed as a top comedian to watch by Timeout LA and released an hour long comedy album titled Mostly Kidding that debited at #2 on iTunes. As an actor, has been featured on critically acclaimed programs such as The Mindy Project and Insecure. Chinedu most recently can be seen in two feature films: It's a Party, Two Minutes of Fame and Shithouse.
Besides performing, Chinedu enjoys playing and watching basketball, traveling, documentaries and spending time and supporting family and friends. More information on Chinedu can be found on his website.
