Arpita, often called the Tolly Queen by her fans, has been an actress par excellence having acted in over 40 films in Bengali, Bhojpuri, Odia and Hindi. She took a break from acting to raise her son and then she came back with a bang - She had 12 releases in the pipeline just before the pandemic hit us in 2020. Her modeling career spans over 20 years, which started with her being crowned "Tolottama" - beauty pageant by ABP Group (previous winner were Bipashu Basu and Celinina Jaitley). She has been a loving face of on national TV for brands like Fair & Lovely, Yippi Noodles, Lacto calamine, Shyam Steel etc. She is a trained classical singer having sang duets with a maestro like Rashid Khan. A trained classical dancer, Arpita is mesmerizing on the stage. Her recent solo musical stage - My Name Is Jaan has won unprecedented accolades from Media and Critics. Arpita is also a serial entrepreneur. FLO, FICCI Women's outfit felicitated Arpita as an entrepreneur. She is often invited to speak in prestigious forums Post marriage, she set up a production house partnering with her husband which later on grew to be a leading production house in Kolkata. She has produced numerous award winning fiction and non-fiction shows for leading Bengali channels like Star, Zee, Colors etc. In her next stint as an entrepreneur, she set up a start up partnering with a friend and media industry stalwart Barun Das (IIT, IIM, LSE Alumni and current the CEO of TV9 Network). The Heath-TECH-content start up which earlier raised funds from SREI group, was recently acquired by a leading TV network. She is in the process of launching her fresh venture Tumbaga Media Pvt Limited in Delhi, which will focus on production of fiction web-series based on real incidence. Recently she won the prestigious Filmfare Award for Best Actor Female (Critics choice) for her movie Abyakto.
