Hernán Jabes

Born on June 24 in 1969 in Santiago de Chile and lives in Caracas, Venezuela, from the age of 6. In 1990, he directed his first job in the world of advertising. A campaign starring Simón Díaz, that commercial was filmed in various states of Venezuela. Here he began his career as a director, making more than a hundred commercials, 20 music videos, and almost 9 short films, among other projects. In 2009 he made his Opera Prima "Macuro, la Fuerza de un pueblo", which that same year received an Honorable Mention and a Special Mention from the Jury at the Malaga Film Festival; the same thing happens at the Viña del Mar Film Festival in Chile. And he also received in Venezuela an award for Best First Film at the Mérida Film Festival and another one at the Ibero-American and Caribbean, Margarita Film Festival for Best Fiction Feature Film. In 2011 he writes, directs, and produces his second feature film, "Piedra, Papel o Tijera". In 2012 he became the Official Selection of Venezuela for Best Foreign Film for the Oscars Awards. In 2013 he traveled to Marseille, France, to receive 5 distinctions, including Best Film, Best Actress, and Best Actor at the 15th Rencontres du Cinema Sud-American, and then repeat in Sydney, Australia, as Best Film at the Latin American Film Festival. He also receives the Young Jury Prize at FILMAR, Switzerland; to then close in Europe with a recognition for the Best Sound in addition to the Honorable Mention in Flanders, Belgium in 2014. "Piedra, Papel o Tijera", is also an Official Selection in more than 10 additional festivals. Back in Venezuela, he obtains the award for Best Film and 5 more awards at the 9th Mérida Venezuelan Film Festival, among others. In the year 2018 he discovers the controversial novel "Jezabel" by Eduardo Sánchez Rugeles, and transforms it into a film with the same tone, controversial and outside the parameters of political morality; This tape is currently in its distribution stage.
