Chitragupta Sinha
Chitragupta was born in Dumka on 1st Jan 1965, a district in Jharkhand, Chitragupta. He aspired to become an actor since his childhood. After completing his graduation, he applied to take admission for the National School of Drama, and was rejected twice. After getting rejection from NSD he decided to join Bihar Art theater, Kalidas Rangalaya, Patna and did Diploma in Drama from there. He started to participate in regular plays at Kalidas Rangalaya, Patna after completing his diploma.
Chitragupta played role of Acharya Kriplani in the notable play from BAT "Gandhiji Ka Ek Antim Varsh" directed by late founder and Director of BAT, Anil Kumar Mukherjee, Later he joined Kala Sangam, at Patna, a theatre group by Satish Anand, who is known as "Bhishm Pitamah of Bihar Theatre" and worked in many plays there. He also participated in radio drama (Stories, Anecdotes, plays, jhalki) which was organized by All India Radio and Patna.
He acted in couple of Bhojpuri films but didn't got success. After the failure in Bhojpuri film, he pursued higher studies in marketing management, advertising, and mass communication, while working in various industries to support his family. However, he also continued to work in plays and documentaries, and conducted theater workshop. He also played a small role in an unreleased film "Jaana Na Dil se door" by late Vijay Anand later after a long gap he appeared in small role in Koyelanchal, Anona and The Accidental Prime Minister.
In adition Chitragupta done Acting workshop with South African Theater group with Ellis Pearson and Bheki Mkhwane "Theatre of the Imagination" in earlier 2001. He did also an acting workshop at Actor's Prepares by Mr Anupam Kher Acting Institute.
He has also been trained by Nicholas Johnson, Assistant Professor in Drama at Trinity College Dublin and co-founder of the Samuel Beckett Laboratory in following area;
"The various techniques organized by the "Theatre Laboratory" such as to explore ways to bring new life to literature through performance and using embodiment through practice-as-research and Performance Studies".
Chitragupta has also participated in Acting Workshop from New York Film Academy center at Mumbai.
Chitragupta has done certification course in "Theater Appreciation" from National School of Drama, New Delhi and he has participated in various theatre workshop there.
-Participation in workshop with Mr Rajesh Tailang at NSD for "Technique of an Actor" -Workshop for writing for Theatre with Mrs Tripurari Sharma at NSD -Participated Workshop "Theatre Direction in India" by Anuradha Kapurr & "Scenography and the visual by Mr Deepan Sivaraman at NSD.
-Participated Masterclass by Nadira Babbar & Raman Kumar during Qadir Ali Baig Theatre Festival at Hyderabad.
As an actor and acting coach Chitragupta train actors and believe in "Art should always have the freedom to express and the space to fulfill its role towards society and create cultural legacies that should pass on to the next generation.."
