Scott Vogel
Scott Vogel came to Los Angeles in the late 90s after acting in theatre and video productions for several years. He continued with independent movies, classes and scene-study workshops in Los Angeles. He then wrote his first screenplays and put his drawing talents to use as a Storyboard Artist, doing various jobs in TV (The Bernie Mac Show, Jake in Progress, etc.) and commercials, as well as for established artists such as Faye Dunaway and Ben Affleck.
He segued into work as a Locations Rep for one of the premier locations companies in LA and, in this position, worked with productions at the highest levels of the entertainment business. He observed countless pros at work, including Christopher Nolan, David Fincher, Robert DeNiro, Meryl Streep, Laura Dern, Jake Gyllenhaal and Robert Downey Jr. to name a few. Scott has worked close to 2000 full production days at this point, learning the ins and outs of most every department on a professional set.
Throughout this, he continued acting, writing and directing, first with his feature film 'American Actor' and later with his web show 'It's Always Smoggy in L.A.' (originally on Funny or Die). He played parts in smaller movies and completed 7 more feature length screenplays between 2010 and 2020. They are 'Overload', 'Love in the Land of the Impossible', 'Mob Rules', 'Magical Golden Glow', 'Jackals in the Garden', 'Tramps Like Us' and 'Enlightenmentation'. Of those entered into competitions, all made it beyond the 1st or 2nd rounds and are ranked within the Top 33% (or higher), out of 53,000+ scripts on Coverfly, the leading industry outlet of screenplay competition statistics.
In 2019 Scott wrote & directed the short film, 'All of It Happened on a Thursday'. The material interested Oscar nominated actress Sally Kirkland enough to take a leading role, and also featured Scott Colomby ('Caddyshack') along with a talented cast and crew. It won Best Comedy Short at the L.A. Film Fest and 'Honorable Mention' at the Dubai International Film Festival. Last year he appeared in the feature 'Night Caller' (with Steve Railsback, Bai Ling, Kelley Maroney and other established actors) and this year in 'Pig Killer'. 'Night Caller' won several awards and nominations and 'Pig Killer' (with Jake Busey, James Russo & Cassandra Gava) appears poised to do the same.
