Christo Tomy

Christo is an award-winning filmmaker based in Kerala and an alumnus of the Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute. He has directed two short films - Kanyaka and Kamuki - both of which garnered National Awards for Best Direction and Best Debut respectively, besides screening at film festivals worldwide. Christo started his career assisting Adoor Gopalakrishnan on Pinneyum, a Malayalam-language romantic crime drama. He has previously also directed music videos and documentaries. You Are Rot explored the different aspects of violence within Christianity, and was awarded Best Music Video at the International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala. Apart, a documentary Christo directed when he was selected for the 9th International Student Film Camp in Serbia, was listed as the second best work in the TV Story category at the International Media Festival (INTERFER). He is a script mentor and story editor on numerous projects in development including Geetu Mohandas' upcoming feature Bastards and a Nivin Pauly starrer titled Gangster of Mundanmala. Most recently, Christo directed a true-crime docu-series for Netflix titled Indian Predators which is slated to release next year. In parallel, Christo is working on his feature directorial debut, Ullozhukku, which is being co-produced by Abhishek Chaubey and Honey Trehan's MacGuffin Pictures and RSVP. His first Malayalam feature screenplay, Ullozhukku, was part of the NFDC Screenwriters' Lab and won the Cinestaan India's Storytellers Script Contest. Christo was also selected as a Fellow for Film Independent's 2019 Global Media Makers LA Residency Program.
